Maarika Maury’s MARKED WITH BLOOD exhibition

invites the viewer to reflect on their roots and heritage, to become fascinated with the layers of the mind and memory like an archaeologist. The works tell a story of how the past influences the present and shapes who we become.

The title of the exhibition contains a powerful symbol– blood. It refers to blood ties and heritage – how our families and ancestors profoundly shape us and our identities. We are all part of a long chain of generations. Invisible bonds, formed through bloodlines, affect how we understand ourselves and the world around us –whether we like it or not. Silent stories and emotions too often remain without words or explanations. The exhibition sheds light on how previous generations impact people. Through the works, the viewer embarks on a personal, archaeological journey with the artist in an attempt to understand her roots. In the exhibition where personal and the universal meet.

The renowned Finnish visual artist Maarika Maury will be showing her art at Burg Kronberg from April 18 to May 18, 2025. Maury have had numerous exhibitions both in Finland and abroad, and is known for big abstract, often colorful paintings with mystical figures seen in the background. Her ancestral ties to Kronberg Castle weave a deep and personal connection, making this exhibition a return to her roots.
